Captcha
Spam: everyone hates it. One of the biggest problems with the Internet today is that now spam is perpetrated not by individuals with too much time on their hands, but by individuals with too much time on their hands who have the ability to make computer programs which will spam for them.
Indeed, there are now computer programs (“bots”) which autonomously surf the Internet searching for sign up forms which will allow the program to post a message.
For the health of the Internet this is bad. No one cares about the new junk stocks or the latest in male enhancement.
One solution is to create forms which can only be filled out by human users. This process is called CAPTCHA or Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. Basically, the idea is to dynamically create an image which is readable by humans but not by computers.
In an effort to keep creepy robots out of this site we will be implementing this technology.
