Boys and Girls Club of Fremont County Becomes Chartered By National Organization

It is with pride and excitement that the Boys and Girls Club of Fremont County announces that it has officially become chartered by its national organization, Boys and Girls Club of America.

This is the culmination of much hard work by many people, and they’re very excited and pleased to finally say, “we’re now an officially recognized Boys and Girls Club.”  They have had the permission of the national organization since August of 2009 to use the name, service mark, and publicity materials and to have the support of BGCA’s Regional Service Director for this area.  That allowed them to begin the process to form a non-profit, elect a board, raise money, begin to look for a building and eventually open their doors in June of 2011.

The final step in being charted was reached in early December when they signed up their 100th club member.  The charter paperwork was then completed and submitted, and the good news came in the mail right after Christmas.

One of the other main requirements in being charted was having the necessary funds in the bank to be able to operate the club for the long term.  The board and staff have worked hard to make that happen, and are very grateful to the community for the wonderful financial support it has provided to make the club a reality.

Citizens interested in making a contribution may send donations to Boys and Girls Club of Fremont County, PO Box 1527, Canon City, CO 81215, or donate online at www.bgcfremont.org
